More information

Did you know?

  • The State is divided into sixteen (16) river basins containing 129,700 miles of rivers and streams.
  • Each year the state of Alabama spends approximately 7 million dollars on cleanup efforts along
    state highways.

The Trash Free Waters project to “Help Keep Our Waters Clean” was designed to promote awareness about watersheds and reduce litter from entering waterways across the state of Alabama.

Perhaps the most visible aspects of the project are the signs placed along interstates in Alabama to inform motorists that they are entering a watershed and encourage them not to litter.
