Land Division issues permits for hazardous waste and solid waste facilities, processors of scrap tires and medical waste, and transporters of hazardous waste/used oil and medical waste. These permit types are:
Alabama Underground and Aboveground Storage Tank Trust Fund
The Alabama Underground and Aboveground Storage Tank Trust Fund is a fund to reimburse eligible tank owners and operators for costs associated with the assessment and remediation of eligible releases from underground and aboveground storage tanks. For many tank owners and operators throughout the State of Alabama, the Trust Fund serves as the required financial responsibility mechanism.

Area Wide Optimization Program
Since 1997, ADEM has been an active participant in the EPA Region 4 Area Wide Optimization Multi-State Pilot Program (AWOP). This program was originally designed to achieve optimized turbidity performance at surface water treatment plants by utilizing the Composite Correction Program (CCP).
