PSI Exam Guidance

Alabama Water and Wastewater Operator Exams are administered at PSI Test Centers throughout the US. If you have questions about what to expect at a PSI Test Center, click this link for PSI’s Test Taker’s Handbook. The Handbook tells you about scheduling options, what you can and cannot bring with you to the Test Center, and other “test day” tidbits.

Please note, ADEM relies on PSI to approve ADA accommodations. See details in the Handbook referenced above.

For anyone not logged in, here is the flow to use to search locations:

1. Start at https://test-takers.psiexams.com/browse/water-wastewater
2. Select the program from the list.
2. Select Check for Available Dates.
3. Select an Exam Type from the list.
4. Select the red Continue button on the right of the screen.
5. Search for exam centers and available appointments.

If a PSI Test Center is listed for the Exam you have chosen, then you may take that Exam at that Test Center, even if that Test Center is not in Alabama. For instance, if you search for an Alabama Wastewater Operator Grade 4 Test Center within 500 miles of Montgomery, you will get a list of Test Centers in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. You may take the Alabama Wastewater Operator Grade 4 Exam at any of those locations.

The link to PSI’s online scheduling system is here: PSI Online Exam Scheduling. If a candidate wishes to call PSI and speak to a customer service representative, please call 833-256-1420. This phone number is a line for WPI clients and exam candidates only. As such, hold times to speak to a PSI customer service representative should be minimal.

At this time, all PSI test centers are open for administering operator exams. Candidates should refer to the PSI web site for Frequently Asked Questions about Covid-19.
