Notice of proposed local limits for CONTROLLING the level of pollutants discharged into publicly owned treatment works and request for comments

Bibb County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Town of West Blocton Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0074195 located in West Blocton, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Marshall County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Guntersville Water Works and Sewer Board Eastlake Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0020150 located in Guntersville, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Talladega County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Water Works and Sewer Board of the City of Oxford Tull C Allen Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0058408 located in Oxford, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Tuscaloosa County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Tuscaloosa Water and Sewer Department Hilliard N Fletcher Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0022713 located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

The Department has tentatively determined that the proposed local limits are consistent with ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03.  Copies of the proposed local limits and an explanation of how the local limits were developed may be obtained at the Department website.

Persons wishing to comment may do so by submitting their comments to the Department no later than 30 days following the publication of this notice.
