PROPOSED CONSENT ORDER

Mobile County

Pursuant to the provisions of the Alabama Environmental Management Act, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is proposing to issue a Consent Order to Sterling Specialty Chemicals, US, LLC (EPA Identification Number ALD008175408), which operates a chemical manufacturing facility located at 1 Cyanamid Road in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama.

The violations consisted of the following: storage of hazardous waste without a permit, failure to keep secondary containment free of cracks and gaps, and failure to label containers of hazardous waste with the applicable EPA hazardous waste numbers.

The Department is proposing a civil penalty in the amount of $9,800. The Order, if issued, would require Sterling Specialty Chemicals, US, LLS to comply with all applicable requirements of Division 14 of the ADEM Administrative Code.

The comment period shall end at the close of business 30 days from the publication date of this notice.
