PROPOSED CONSENT ORDER

Talladega County

Pursuant to the provisions of the Alabama Environmental Management Act, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is proposing to issue a Consent Order to Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC DBA Alabama Auto Plant (EPA Identification Number ALR000016261), which operates a motor vehicle manufacturing facility located at 1800 Honda Drive in Lincoln, Talladega County, Alabama.

The violations consisted of the following: failure to comply with hazardous waste storage tank requirements, failure to control air emissions, failure to properly manage satellite accumulation containers, failure to properly label containers of hazardous waste, failure to document training provided to employees that manage hazardous waste, failure to properly manage containers of used oil, and failure to demonstrate the length of time universal waste has been accumulated.

The Department is proposing a civil penalty in the amount of $9,550. The Order, if issued, would require Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC DBA Alabama Auto Plant to comply with all applicable requirements of Division 14 of the ADEM Administrative Code.

The comment period shall end at the close of business 30 days from the publication date of this notice.
