PROPOSED CONSENT ORDER

Pursuant to the provisions of the Alabama Environmental Management Act, Ala. Code §§22-22A-1 to 22-22A-17, as amended, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is proposing to issue a Consent Order to Knauf Insulation, Inc., the owner/operator of a fiberglass insulation manufacturing facility currently operating in Lanett, Chambers County, Alabama.

The violation consisted of five dates, beginning September 8, 2021 and ending July 7, 2022, on which Knauf Insulation performed stack tests that showed failure to meet emissions limitations.

The Department is proposing a civil penalty in the amount of $160,000.  The Order, if issued, would require Knauf Insulation to pay the Alabama Department of Environmental Management within 45 days of the effective date, and comply with the requirements of the Permit and Department’s regulations immediately.
