NOTICE OF UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK (UST) CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN AND REQUEST FOR COMMENTS

LEE COUNTY

Mr. Burnie Higginbotham, Higginbotham Oil Company, P. O. Box 1807, Pelham, Alabama, 35124, is required by ADEM to implement a Corrective Action Plan for remediation of soil and/or groundwater which has resulted from a release from underground storage tanks formerly located at the Sunny #30, 1000 Columbus Pkwy., Opelika, Alabama. The site is identified as Facility Identification Number 12364-081-004012 and Incident Number UST06-06-02. The proposed remediation method is dual-phase vacuum extraction with mobile, enhanced, multiphase extraction and natural attenuation.

Copies of the Corrective Action Plan are available for public inspection at the following location Monday – Friday (except legal holidays), 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. A nominal fee for copying and/or mailing may be charged. Arrangements for copying should be made in advance.

Persons wishing to comment may do so, in writing, to the Department’s named contact above within 15 days following the publication date of this notice. Any person wishing to provide additional information regarding the Corrective Action Plan may do so.

A written request for a public meeting may also be filed within that 15-day period and must state the nature of the issues proposed to be raised in the meeting.
