Pursuant to the provisions of the Alabama Environmental Management Act, Ala. Code §§22-22A-1 to 22-22A-16 (2006 Rplc. Vol.), the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is proposing to issue a Consent Order to Georgia – Pacific LLC, d.b.a GP Consumer Products, LP, Naheola Mill, the owner/operator of a Pulp and Paper Kraft Mill facility currently operating in Pennington, Alabama.

The violations consisted of the failure to properly operate and maintain the air emission control devices for the Lime Kiln on December 12, 2008, and for the No. 4 Recovery Furnace on January 30, 2009.

The Department is proposing a civil penalty in the amount of $10,000. The order, if issued, would require Georgia – Pacific LLC, d.b.a GP Consumer Products, LP, Naheola Mill] to pay the civil penalty and comply with the conditions of the Permit.
