NOTICE OF A PROPOSED VOLUNTARY CLEANUP PLAN UNDER THE ALABAMA LAND RECYCLING AND ECONOMIC REDEVELOPMENT ACT (ALRERA) FOR THE FORMER PURINA MILLS FACILITY LOCATED IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA.
URS Corporation
has completed a Voluntary Cleanup Plan for the former Purina Mills Facility site located at 1500 Furnace Street, Montgomery, Alabama. The site encompasses 10.9 acres at the intersection of Furnace Street and 6th Street. The property began operation in 1887 as a cotton oil processing facility through 1957. The land was sold to the Ralston Purina Company in 1971, where agricultural chemicals were manufactured until 1997 when the site closed. The Andersons, Inc. acquired the site in 2000 and continues to manufacture fertilizers and lawn care products. BP America has retained certain responsibilities for environmental conditions. The Voluntary Cleanup Plan was approved by the Department on April 6, 2009.Copies of the Voluntary Cleanup Plan are available for public inspection for 30 days from the date of this notice during normal business hours Monday through Friday, except legal holidays at the following location:

Copies may be obtained by contacting Mr. Russell Kelly, ADEM, at the above address. A nominal fee for copying and/or emailing will be charged. Arrangements for copying should be made in advance.
In order to affect final decisions, all comments must address issues that have an impact on the applicant’s ability to comply with applicable environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
