Important to Developers
Why are brownfields important to developers? In a word: opportunity. And here are just a few reasons why:
  • In many cases, brownfields are located in key areas; along waterfronts, near transportation hubs, in fully developed suburbs and even in rural communities. Many of these brownfields were once the heart of the community, and present an ideal opportunity for a developer to access valuable property for redevelopment and proximity to workers and consumers.
  • The Brownfields Program provides incentives and tools to encourage and assist with the cleaning and redeveloping of these properties.
  • The environmental and community revitalization angles of brownfield redevelopment provide developers with a unique opportunity to promote their commitment to their community, the environment and to economic development that is beneficial to many.
