Notice is hereby given that a hearing before the Department of Environmental Management of the State of Alabama will be held on December 7, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Hearing Room at the ADEM - Central Office location at 1400 Coliseum Blvd. in Montgomery, to consider proposed revisions to Division 13 of the ADEM Administrative Code.

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management proposes to amend its Administrative Code by creating Chapter 14 within ADEM Administrative Code Division 335-13, Solid Waste Program, pursuant to amendments to the Solid Wastes & Recyclable Materials Management Act enacted in 2008. The Department proposes to establish technical and operational requirements for facilities engaged in the composting of solid waste. Chief among the proposed requirements for subject facilities would be the requirements to obtain permits from the Department and to implement certain control measures necessary to prevent the migration of solid waste into the environment.

Copies of the proposed rules are available at a cost of 30 cents per page at each of the ADEM office locations listed below. The summary of reasons supporting the revisions are available free of charge.
