Butler County

Pursuant to the provisions of the Alabama Environmental Management Act, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is proposing to issue an Order to Hwashin America Corporation, which is authorized to discharge wastewater under NPDES Permit IU330700072, located on 661 Montgomery Highway, Greenville, Butler County, Alabama.

The violations noted in the Unilateral Order consist of effluent limitations violations, failure to comply with all conditions of Consent Order No. 19-002-CWP, discharging wastewaters to a publicly owned treatment works which adversely impacted the performance of the treatment works, failure to properly maintain records, and failure to timely submit a permit application.

The Department is proposing a civil penalty in the amount of $43,000.00.  The Order, if issued, would require Hwashin America Corporation to submit an Engineering Report, progress reports, and certification of compliance, and to comply with the Permit Conditions.

Interested persons may submit written comments, including request for a hearing, within 30 days of the publication date of this notice, to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, attention Jeffery W. Kitchens, Chief of the Water Division, P.O. Box 301463, Montgomery, Alabama 36130-1463.  The comment period shall end at the close of business 30 days from the publication date of this notice.  A copy of the proposed order is available on the ADEM web page at http://www.adem.state.al.us/PublicNotice/PublicNotice.htm or may be obtained by written request to the above address.  A nominal fee for copying may be charged.
