Notice of proposed local limits for CONTROLLING the level of pollutants discharged into publicly owned treatment works and request for comments

Cullman County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the City of Cullman Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0050423 located in Cullman, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Jefferson County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Jefferson County Commission Valley Creek Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023655 located in Birmingham, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Jefferson County Commission Village Creek Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023647 located in Birmingham, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Mobile County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System C.C. Williams      Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023086 located in Mobile, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System Wright Smith Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023094 located in Mobile, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the City of Prichard Carlos Morris Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023205 located in Prichard, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the City of Saraland Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0055786 located in Saraland, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems

Montgomery County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Montgomery Water Works and Sanitary Sewer Board Catoma Creek Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0027863 located in Montgomery, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

The Department has tentatively determined that the proposed local limits are consistent with ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03.  Copies of the proposed local limits and an explanation of how the local limits were developed may be obtained at the Department website.

Persons wishing to comment may do so by submitting their comments, in writing or by email, to the Department no later than 30 days following the publication of this notice.
