SRF Project No. FS010265-01

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management has made $25,000,000 in financial assistance available to the Curry Water Authority using funds from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan program.  In accordance with State and Federal regulations that govern the program, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management has conducted a review to assess the potential impacts upon the environment that may result from implementation of this project.

The Curry Water Authority proposes improvements to its existing water storage and distribution system and the addition of a new water treatment facility.  Improvements will include development of a new water treatment facility, new water storage tank, new water transmission mains, new raw water transmission main, pressure reducing valves, water meters, rehabilitation of existing water storage tanks, replacement of existing water lines and to meet compliance standards set forth by ADEM and the NPDES permit. Proposed improvements will insure continued provision of quality drinking water to all Curry Water Authority service area customers.

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management has determined that the project will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment and consequently is herewith issuing a Finding Of No Significant Impact (FONSI) to support the use of DWSRF funds for the construction of the proposed project. However, this decision may be reconsidered if significant adverse information concerning the potential environmental impacts of the project is discovered. Attached is an Environmental Assessment that details the proposed project and its impact upon the environment.

Comments relative to this project should be submitted in writing to Mr. William A. Lott, SRF Section, Permits & Services Division, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, P.O. Box 301463, Montgomery, Alabama 36130, no later than 30 days after the date of this notice.  The Alabama Department of Environmental Management will not take formal action to proceed with the project without carefully evaluating any public comments opposing the project.

This notice is hereby given this 24th day of June, 2020, by authorization of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
