Notice of proposed local limits for CONTROLLING the level of pollutants discharged into publicly owned treatment works and request for comments

Calhoun County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Water Works & Sewer Board of the City of Anniston Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0022195 located in Anniston, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Jacksonville Water Works & Sewer Board Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0022586 located in Jacksonville, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Chambers County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the East Alabama Water, Sewer & Fire Protection District Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0024724 located in Valley, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Covington County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Utility Board of the City of Opp Westside Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0054313 located in Opp, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Dallas County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Selma Water Works & Sewer Board Valley Creek Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0022578 located in Selma, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Lauderdale County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the City of Florence Water/Wastewater Department Cypress Creek Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023884 located in Florence, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Madison County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Water & Wastewater Board of the City of Madison Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0071897 located in Madison, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Marion County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the City of Hamilton Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0048372 located in Hamilton, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Shelby County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the City of Alabaster Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0025828 located in Alabaster, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

Walker County

As required by ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03, the Department of Environmental Management has developed proposed local limits for the Jasper Waterworks & Sewer Board Town Creek Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) NPDES permit number AL0023418 located in Jasper, Alabama.  These local limits are intended to control the discharge of certain pollutants to the POTW, prevent the discharge of these pollutants to a water of the state in amounts that will create a water quality violation, prevent interference with the operation of the POTW and/or prevent the creation of sludge disposal problems.

The Department has tentatively determined that the proposed local limits are consistent with ADEM Administrative Code 335-6-5-.03.  Copies of the proposed local limits and an explanation of how the local limits were developed may be obtained at the Department website.

Persons wishing to comment may do so by submitting their comments to the Department no later than 30 days following the publication of this notice.
