NOTICE OF UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK (UST) CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN
AND REQUEST FOR COMMENTS

PUBLIC NOTICE - 201

Covington County

Carolina Grocery, Inc., 18551 Sugar Rd., Andalusia, Alabama is required by ADEM to implement the Corrective Action Plan for remediation of soil and groundwater which has resulted from a release from an underground storage tank located at the Carolina Grocery, 14072 Hwy 29 South, Andalusia, Alabama.  The site is identified as Facility I.D. Number 20341-039-008237 and Incident Number UST 16-09-01.  The proposed remediation method includes remediation by Dual Phase Vapor Extraction enhanced by monthly mobile air sparging events.  

Copies of the Corrective Action Plan for the Carolina Grocery are available for public inspection electronically via http://adem.alabama.gov/newsEvents/publicNotices.cnt and at the following location Monday – Friday (except legal holidays), 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  A nominal fee for copying and/or mailing may be charged.  Arrangements for copying should be made in advance.

Persons wishing to comment may do so, in writing, to the Department's named contact above within 15 days following the publication date of this notice.  Any person wishing to provide additional information regarding the Corrective Action Plan may do so.

A written request for a public meeting may also be filed within that 15-day period and must state the nature of the issues proposed to be raised in the meeting.

This notice is hereby given this June 18, 2019, by authority of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
