CWSRF Project No. CS010290-21
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM or the Department) has made $8,500,000 in financial assistance available to the City of Tuscaloosa using funds from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loan program. In accordance with State and Federal regulations that govern the program, the Department has conducted a review to assess potential impacts upon the environment that may result from implementation of this project.
The City of Tuscaloosa is proposing several sanitary sewer system improvement projects which will include: repairs to various sewer lines and force mains including air relief valves, upgrades to lift stations, and an equalization tank. Proposed improvements will insure efficient and continued provision of sanitary sewer collection service to various service area customers including customers in areas of the City that are low income and/ or minority.
The Department has determined that the project will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment and consequently is herewith issuing a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) to support the use of CWSRF funds for the construction of the proposed project. However, this decision may be reconsidered if significant adverse information concerning the potential environmental impacts of the project is discovered.
Comments relative to this project should be submitted in writing to Mr. Thomas H. Garrett. P.E., SRF Section, Permits & Services Division, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, P.O. Box 301463, Montgomery, Alabama 36130-1463, no later than 30 days after the date of this CE. The Alabama Department of Environmental Management will not take formal action to proceed with the project without carefully evaluating any public comments opposing the project.
This notice is hereby given this 12th day of December, 2018, by authorization of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
